There are at least three hundred lobbying organisations engaged in defending the interests of groups of specialists at the Ministry of Health, reports the Volkskrant on the basis of research from the University of Tilburg. The study was done by Tony Lamping, who also works for Zorgverzekeraars Nederland, the lobby organisation for insurers. According to him the number of associations in health care is the highest. Almost every specialty has its own organisation. The organisations have a role in health care, but their activities that do not directly benefit the patient. For example the public hospitals spend money on the Dutch Association of Hospitals (NVZ). Research Lamping examined how power is divided between the professional and semi-government institutions such as the Dutch Healthcare Authority and the Health Care Inspectorate. According to him forty organizations are pivotal and the others have less influence. The NVZ is the most powerful. "When it comes to sharing information about money, training and quality, this association is at the center." Er zijn zeker driehonderd lobbyorganisaties die zich bezighouden met het verdedigen van de belangen van een specialisme bij het ministerie van Volksgezondheid, schrijft de Volkskrant op basis van onderzoek van de Universiteit van Tilburg. Het onderzoek werd gedaan door Tony Lamping, die ook werkzaam is bij Zorgverzekeraars Nederland, de lobbyclub voor verzekeraars. Volgens hem zijn nergens ter wereld zoveel belangenverenigingen in de zorg. Vrijwel elk specialisme heeft zijn eigen organisatie. De organisaties doen wel iets in de zorg, maar het gaat om activiteiten die niet direct ten bate zijn van de patiënt. Zo wordt door de ziekenhuizen bijvoorbeeld publiek geld gestoken in de Nederlandse Vereniging van Ziekenhuizen (NVZ). Onderzoek Lamping onderzocht hoe de macht is verdeeld tussen de onderzochte beroepsverenigingen en semi-overheidsinstellingen, zoals de Nederlandse Zorgautoriteit en de Inspectie voor de Gezondheidszorg. Volgens hem zijn veertig organisaties de spil waar omheen de anderen draaien. De NVZ is het machtigst. "Als het gaat om het delen van informatie over geld, opleidingen en kwaliteit, staat deze vereniging in het centrum." |
