GRONINGEN - A helicopter with two occupants crashed on Tuesday at Ballum airport on Ameland. Both the pilot and the
passenger were able to walk away from the crash site themselves.
According to police spokeswoman Irene Sloot, it was a small private aircraft. How the helicopter could crash is still
unknown according to Sloot. The KLPD started an investigation into the incident.
According to spokesman Klaas ropes from the airport, the helicopter had tailwind, which means that the wind came right
from the back. By wind gusts, the machine probably will tilt. Whether this is the cause of the crash, is currently
investigated. The aircraft flew at about three meters in height and was about to land.
